Innovators are finding solutions to the challenges of aging

The Centre for Aging and Brain Health Innovation (CABHI) is the result of the largest investment in brain health and aging in Canadian history.

Contributors include the federal and provincial governments, the Baycrest Foundation and industry and public sector partners.

Headquartered at Baycrest and international in scope, CABHI has launched numerous programs that help clinicians, caregivers and others in the seniors care sector work together to design, test and validate innovative products and services.

Being located at Baycrest is win-win – researchers and clinical expertise are close at hand and an older adult population is on site and willing to offer their ideas and input.

Some projects include:

  • Learning the Ropes for Living with MCI (mild cognitive impairment) – a project team is scaling up an established intervention program by producing facilitator manuals for healthcare professionals.

  • Development and evaluation of four different interventions to support family caregivers.

  • A team of bioengineers and doctors is developing a relatively inexpensive toolkit to help physicians, physiotherapists and other healthcare professionals more accurately assess balance and mobility.

Your donations will help older adults, their families and care providers now and in the years ahead as a fast-growing population of seniors faces age-related decline and disease.
