Residents at Baycrest enjoy welcoming accommodations at every stage of their journey. It’s the perfect blend of the independence they want and the support systems they need.
Long-term care residents have a home in The Apotex Centre, recognized for providing a superior level of care. Residents in Baycrest Terraces enjoy an inclusive community with independent living, assisted living, and our leading-edge Memory Care floor. Active seniors maintain full independent lives at the vibrant and elegant Reuben Cipin Healthy Living Community, commonly known as Two Neptune Drive.
“Baycrest Terraces is my home for 12 years and Terraces is everything that I hoped to find in a retirement home. Staff are caring and it is easy to make friends.”
Sophie Krausz, resident of Baycrest Terraces
A wide-ranging roster of programs encourages healthy, engaged daily lives. For example, residents take part in fitness classes, game nights, book clubs, movie nights, cooking classes, concerts, art programs, and a host of other activities. The programs keep residents socially engaged, intellectually curious, and physically flourishing, and help to lower the risk of dementia.
Our bustling communities also enjoy a wide range of amenities and services, from medical centres to libraries, and salons, that make living on our campus convenient, comfortable, and healthy.
“I enjoy the Jewish holiday services, theatre and going on outings organized by Baycrest; and looking forward to trying some activities like a knitting workshop.”
– Nechama Schlomowitz, a Holocaust survivor who lives in the Apotex
All Baycrest programs, while enjoyable and entertaining, are based on the scientific discoveries of scientists and researchers who study ways to promote healthy aging and avoid the onset of cognitive decline.
Scientists have identified several building blocks of healthy brain aging, including diet and nutrition, physical activity, social engagement, cognitive functioning, and mental wellness. All programs at Baycrest encompass these building blocks.
A recent program is a prime example of scientific knowledge applied to improving patient health. Care for dementia patients has reached a new level in the Possibilities by Baycrest model of care housed in the Baycrest Terraces.
This highly personalized approach to treating dementia patients makes it a priority to provide individual care programs that reflect the interests, preferences and abilities of each patient. Staff takes time to get to know each resident intimately, caregivers are consistently the same, and each resident takes part in social, spiritual, and recreational activities.
By giving each resident control over their daily activities as much as possible, each is able to thrive to the best of their abilities.
“I am really happy that my daughter convinced me and my late husband to move into Two Neptune. No regrets.”
– Millie Mandel, resident of Two Neptune
