Long-time Baycrest supporters Aaron and Arlene Nisker have generously donated 16,000 N95 masks to Baycrest to help safeguard our residents, patients and frontline staff who provide care at Baycrest. This gift is invaluable as Baycrest strives to continue providing exceptional service while responding to the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Aaron and Arlene’s connection to Baycrest goes back to the 1960s and 70s, when they would both visit their grandmothers at Baycrest. Over the decades since, several of their family members have lived on campus, including Arlene’s mother, Ethel Wasserman.

“Ethel was a resident in the Apotex and the hospital for around 15 years, and we are so grateful for the care she received while she was there. We know how much she valued her experience and enjoyed the many programs offered to her,” says Aaron. “It’s so important to care for the elderly. They teach us so much. That’s why we support Baycrest.”

Wayne Safety is a family business run by Aaron and Arlene with their two sons, Ryan and Jason. With offices and warehouses in Toronto and Calgary, the company is one of the largest importers and distributors of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). With the global developments around COVID-19, this equipment is becoming increasingly sparse, which is a significant concern across the healthcare sector.

“We heard about the shortage of PPE and we wanted to do our part in keeping Baycrest staff safe so they can continue to do their jobs during these unprecedented times,” says Aaron. “This is our way of thanking them for their dedication.”

“Baycrest is deeply grateful to Aaron and Arlene for their generous donation, which will help us safeguard our seniors by providing essential PPE for our staff delivering care during this challenging time,” says Josh Cooper, President and CEO of the Baycrest Foundation.

We need your support too! Join the Niskers and make a real difference with a gift to the Baycrest Foundation’s SOS (Safeguarding our Seniors) campaign. We urgently need funds for medical equipment to safeguard everyone in the Baycrest community, as well as equipment for clinicians to treat more patients via telemedicine, and technology for residents and patients to connect with their families and programs while social distancing.
